Relative Homophobia

I am lying awake in bed having a conversation with an old friend of mine. I'm deeply concerned for him. Danny is a 25 year old gay male living in Colorado with his parents. I met him during my 3 years as a radio personality in Colorado Springs.

Danny is about to face something that so many young gay, lesbian and transgendered youth across America.

I'm sorry for your friend; no one deserves to be treated like that by their own parents.

I am not a lesbian by any means, but I have had relationships with women before and I'm thankful that my mother was very supportive of me during all of it, and that my current boyfriend doesn't look down on me for it. I feel very lucky in that respect.

I truly hope your friend can make it through all of this.
