i'm about 90% sure that the really, really free market idea started in Miami at the FTAA protests there. That was the first I heard of anyone putting it together, but it seems similar to the community markets in Argentina where people in social movements trade goods. I also think the first one was called a really, really free bazaar.

I remember reading about that on Starhawk's website and even then thinking, Wow! Viva La Revolucion! So that's where huh? There's talk of doing this on a regular basis at noon if people can commit to it. I'd make it hapen all by myself if I have to. <~~~Too tired to correct the preposition at teh end o' sentance. THAT's when you're tired.

We're trying to make the Really Really Free Market idea a monthly event here in San Francisco. Did this one just happen in florida recently? Do you know who organized it? Or where I could find more info?
thanks!

WE organized it! We didn't learn how to do it from some manuel, we just decided that instead of a march or some regular old protest, we were gonna DO something. It's was wonderful.

I don't know if anyone has written the book on how to do a free market or what it entails. The preceding comment mentioned Starhawk doing the first major one in Miami. All of that stuff should be archived on her website.

It was kind of an act of faith (more so than regular protests) that people would both BRING STUFF and show up. IT'S A PARTY. You can kinda plan it the exact same way.
