Many of us can remember sitting in our PJs in front of the TV on
Saturday morning, watching those classic kid's shows.  What were
YOUR favorites, and how do your memories match up with OTHER fans?
    Come find out

Sat 4:00 PM in Plaza IV (Four) (1 hour)
TELEVISION WITHOUT TELEVISION (398)

[Panelists: Rock Robertson (mod), Tony Finan, L. W. (Lynn) Perkins]

YouTube, Hulu, Netflix online, streaming video, and torrents...
these days, you don't even NEED a television set to watch good
television!  But it is the BEST way to watch it?  And what does it
mean for the Hollywood, the Networks, and for you, the Viewer

Sat 5:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
WATCH THE SKIES!  GREAT SF FILMS OF THE 50'S! (381)

[Panelists: Tony Finan (mod), Orenthal Hawkins, Richard Stout, James
    Rosin, Steve Vertlieb, Mark Wolverton]

It was the era of Eisenhower, McCarthy, cars with fins, and rock &
roll.  It was also the era of some of the greatest SF movies ever
made, like "Forbidden Planet", "The Day The Earth Stood Still",
"Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", and "Little Shop Of Horrors".
(OK, so three out of four ain't bad...)  Let's discuss what made the
'50's such a great decade for SF movies

Sat 11:00 PM in Plaza V (Five) (1 hour)
"ALTERNATIVES": NON-MAINSTREAM LIFESTYLES IN FANDOM (374)

[Panelists: James Prego (mod), Stephanie Burke, Jeff Mach, Tony
    Finan]

Polyamory. "Open" Relationships. BDSM. These and other "lifestyles"
seem to be represented in fandom far more than in the general
population (in fact, on a popular "lifestyle" social network, the
largest and most popular group is "Kinky and Geeky"!).  Why does
there seem to be such a correlation between the two groups?  (This
panel is for mature audiences only.  You must be 18+ to attend.

Sun 12:00 PM in Plaza V (Five) (1 hour)
BEST OF THE BRITS: SF TV FROM ENGLAND (389)

[Panelists: Tony Finan (mod), Richard Stout, Lisa Sullivan, Steve
    Vertlieb, Keith R.A. DeCandido]

We've gotten a lot of great televised SF from Britain lately... From
the new Dr. Who, to it's spinoffs like Torchwood and Sarah Jane, to
other great shows like Primeval and Being Human.  What makes the
Brits so good at giving us good SF

Sun 2:00 PM in Plaza V (Five) (1 hour)
THE MID-ATLANTIC FANDOM SCENE (370)

[Panelists: Tony Finan (mod), Melissa James, Hugh Casey]
