Three Good Things

I complain a lot because there are things to complain about.

A friend showed up and put down a large cut piece of plywood to cover over the section of the floor that is giving way because of the water heater that broke last year. Every time I went into my bathroom, I had to be careful as I avoided the weak spot. I now have a piece of 8' x 2.5' of plywood covering the bad place and drawing on the neighboring floor to distribute weight. I can stomp, but it took me a few bad moments before I tired.

Yesterday another friend showed up to change my fuel filter. My car (1994 Mercury Grand Marquis) has been running rough for a long time and the verdict was fuel pump, which is inside the gas tank on this model, or the fuel filter. If the filter didn't doing it, I was going to be looking at $300+ that I don't have to replace the gas tank and pump. But the filter was what was needed. It takes 2-3 minutes to warm up, but it used to take 8-12 minutes to warm up. When I press on the gas, it accelerates - before when I pressed on the gas it would slow down and I was afraid to get on the freeway. It runs great today.

And this morning (it is 4AM, I was able to stand up without using my hands to support myself. In the past weeks I fell five times and the last two left me with an injured right wrist, right hip and both knees. I was only able to stand by bracing on my one good hand and pushing. A few minutes ago I was able to stand with the brace and ... that is a good thing.

See. I don't JUST complain.

I think I shared this video before, but it good enough for a second go 'round.
