I've decided to try A couple of friends use Skype and the basic computer to computer is free. I was going to get a number people could call, but they want more for the first 3 months than I have in my PayPal and I will probably squander that on food or something. The number it self will be $6 per month, and another $5 per month for the unlimited US/Canada account. I need to clear up if everyone can call me, based on their own local phone setup, of course.

I am going to have to scale back - again. I think I will give up the cable phone and digital cable in favor of over-the-air digital (for a while) and a Skype phone. If that doesn't work out, I'll get Vonnage or a real hardwire line with no long distance.

I will keep the internet - I may scale down to a lower speed, but it would still be lots faster than dial up.

Sigh. I rememberr when I got my first modem in 1985 it was 300baud and I was thrilled to hook it up to my Mac Plus. You could watch each letter draw on the screen, one after another.

Later I got a 1200baud and enire lines appeared at once - so I had to wonder what the poor people were doing.

Now, If I'm under a gig transfer, I feel put upon and picked on.

Things change.

If you have spare piles of cash lying around (laying around?) the PayPal button still works. I think.

And speaking of things changing ....

My dad seems to be building up a resistance to the Aricept (Alzheimer's Drug). For a couple of weeks he was doing very well, and now he is slipping back. They will up the dose this week, and we go in for testing next week. We should also complete arrangements to transfer him to the Senior facility at Fayetteville this coming week.

Something for the eyes:
