Nicole and I went to Delaware this weekend to visit her friend Cathleen. After getting lost ONCE WE GOT OFF THE DAMN EXIT TO MEET CATHLEEN (go figure), we finally met up with her in the parking lot of her job (an HSBC bank) and followed her back to her house. She lives on a development in the middle of a golf course, and I was kinda shocked to see that the land down there is just very... flat. It's a lot of farmland, and what isn't farmland is being constructed into housing developments and commercial properities. I'd never actually been in the state aside from driving through, so I guess I didn't really know what to expect from it. Cathleen was totally awesome and her family is cool - she has two dogs, one of which, Ginger, only has 3 legs.

After bumming around at her house a bit, Cathleen, Nicole and I went out to eat at Applebee's and then went and saw Man Of The Year, the new Robin Williams movie. It was really funny, lots of political humor and poking fun at the current polictical agenda. On the drive back, we drove through a sobriety checkpoint that apparently the state troopers down there have insinuated for after midnight on certain roads. The one cop that talked to us let us go immediately after Cathleen said she hadn't had any drinks, and we kept joking about that (she hadn't drank anything, but the three of us found it really amusing that they just let us go so easily). Then we stopped at Wawa and I got hit on by some creepy dude. Back at Cathleen's house, we got ahold of this kid Dan, a friend of her and Nicole's (that Cathleen is also seeing) who goes to Purchase College that was coming down to hang out with us for the weekend. He left around 1am and called Cathleen at 4, and she got up to go let him into the house.

The next morning, the four of us went out and I showed them the wonders of Waffle House. They all enjoyed it, so it was a success. Then, since Nicole and Cathleen have developed an interest in going to the track, we went to Delaware Park, a horseracing/slots/golf place. I bet on 2 races and actually made $21 and change (won $9.50 and cashed back my $10 voucher), but forced myself not to bet anymore after that. Cathleen was the big winner out of all of us, having won $18.50 in the first race alone and then won a couple more after that. I was really tired and somehow managed to fall asleep for an hour on the bench. After the races, we went back and hung out at Cathleen's house for a bit. I fell asleep because I wasn't feeling well and didn't know why, and almost didn't go out with them because I had a bad headache and felt sick to my stomach. I forced myself to go out, and we went to eat at Chili's, and after eating I felt a LOT better, so I was probably just hungry. We went to Frightland, a haunted house thingy set up next to a small amusement park. I am a total pussy and refused to go on any more attractions after the first one, so Nicole sat with me a bit and we ended up leaving early because the lines were really long.

Overall it was a fun weekend and I'm glad I went.
