Dear Yuletide Writer,
Hi there! Thanks for writing a fanfic for me--I hope you have a great time. Way to also like one of these awesome fandoms.
My requests were these:
Alexandre Dumas - Three Musketeers series (Athos/DArtagnan)
I'd like to see some (non-sexually-explicit) D'Artagnan/Athos slash. Although I'd also love anything that highlights the great camaraderie and friendship between our four heroes.
I'm reading this series for the first time right now, and it's the coolest thing ever. I love the high drama and the intrigue and the history and the swordfights, and I love the deep, true friendship--especially that between D'Artagnan and Athos. I requested slash, but if you're not into that, anything that highlights the already-present affection between them would be great. Include Porthos and/or Aramis by all means, if you like: it'd be great just to see these friends hanging out together. (Also, I'd prefer fic set during The Three Musketeers or Twenty Years After, because there's a slight chance I might not have finished The Man in the Iron Mask by Yuletide.)
Classic Disney Cartoons (Donald Duck/Goofy/Mickey Mouse)
I'd like to see a light-hearted, humorous gen story where these three work together to attempt some task or other, à la "The Boat Builders" or "Clock Cleaners".
I have never sought or seen fanfic for these cartoons, but somebody suggested that they be nominated, and I suddenly completely wanted to read some. One thing I'd like to see, and that I always wish the cartoons would provide more of, is actual interaction and dialogue between Mickey, Donald, and Goofy--how their personalities play off one another. Shaking up the formula or a little good-natured parody is fine, but for this fandom I'd really prefer no slash or angst or . . . well, anything that wouldn't be appropriate in a Disney cartoon, please.
Jules Verne - Around the World in Eighty Days (Jean Passepartout)
I'd kind of like to see some (non-sexually-explicit) Passepartout/Fix slash. But really, I'd love any kind of story about good old Passepartout--like, did he have any previously-unrelated adventures during his tour of the world? Or how do he and Mr. Fogg end up getting on together after their return to London?
This book rocks! I love the characters, the humor, the scientific and geographic digressions, and the way the ending is so well set up. (Also, if you are unfamiliar with it and feel like trying it out, it is very short, and should be easy to find at your local library. It can be purchased new for about three dollars.)
I requested Passepartout/Fix slash because I like the changing dynamic of their friendship and rivalry in canon, and I think it would be sort of fun to read a romance story about them. I love Passepartout--I love his good nature, his fierce loyalty to Mr. Fogg, his stubbornness, his common sense (and disregard for more abstract concepts) and the way the narrator is so partial to him. As for Fix, I'm more interested by him every time I read the book--I like his dedication to the chase, and his internal conflict over giving it up in Chapter 30. If you don't like slash or Fix, though, anything about Passepartout would be great.
Maurice Leblanc - Arsene Lupin stories (Arsène Lupin)
I'd really like a fun, gen crime and/or adventure story, like something out of the "Extraordinary adventures" or the "Confessions".
Arsène Lupin is so awesome! That's basically what I like about this series--I like the crime, the mystery, and the adventure; and I like how utterly, over-the-top cool Lupin is, with his schemes and his charm and his disguises and what have you. So I'd love a story where he, you know, steals something, or finds a treasure, or solves a mystery, or all of the above--just what he does best! I like Ganimard if you do, and I also like Lupin's unnamed chronicler/friend. If you don't feel like doing a plotty mystery story, I'd enjoy pretty much anything about Lupin--a conversation, a meditation, a disconnected scene from some vaguely-described heist.
In general, what do I like? Well . . . I like a story with a plot, but I also like vignettes, moments, bits of conversation, whatever. I like stories that imitate the voice and style of the source material. Stories with lots of talking. Stories with a punchline! Little details that turn out to be important later. Humor. Wordplay. Trivia. Mystery/puzzle stories. Battles of wits. Playful arguments. Secret crushes. Fencing!
I don't really want any sex scenes, please. I would prefer no character death, or characters having children . . . basically, I prefer when the status quo is left more or less intact.
Of course, I hope you'll take what you like from this, and write a story that you like and enjoy writing. Whatever you come up with, it will be totally awesome to read a fic in any of these fandoms. Thanks again, and happy Yuletide!
