One of my biggest internet frustrations is how American businesses seem to see the Canadian market as ZOMG OUTER MONGOLIA, thusly putting some fairly ridiculous restrictions on who does and does not ship here, and at what cost. DUMB.

I actually know someone who keeps a PO box in a town just across the border to avoid this, and apparently the post office there is quite heavily used by Canadians for this purpose. I considered doing it myself when I was running my own business.

I could see the point. I've even thought about asking American friends to let me ship through them, but then I get all offended and figure I shouldn't have to fight so hard to give the places my money.
