this year was a good christmas, but not for the reasons I would have used in years past. the presents I got weren't particularly great, I didn't get to hang out with friends, and I was cooped up in my house for almost a week because of the inclement weather

Okay, as much as I hate the snow, I'm really jealous you got to go sledding. I really wanted to do that, but I never got the chance to. :/

I know what you mean about presents becoming more of an emotional investment, rather than financial. I guess my sisters were pissed because our sort-of step-siblings got a few more gifts than we did, but I didn't even notice. I was too busy thinking about the fact that my dad and his girlfriend tried really hard to find something I would really like.

And I'm really glad you enjoyed spending time with your family; it's always so nice to have that feeling.
