I have these two stand-by fantasies that I fall back on every time work becomes overwhelming and I am on the verge of cracking under pressure. The first is setting up shop on some remote island where I live without a cell phone, computer, or having to pay bills. It's basically me and Allen (and any friends who want to run away as well), lying out ( Read more... )

How odd! Your fantasies are my fantasies, too!

On this job search of mine, I often wonder what they did in the Victorian era, if a lady was without familial connections but possessed a quick mind and a razor sharp wit in her early 20s. Eager to work, not so eager to settle or become stuck. Resumes and cover letters are a necessary evil, I realize, but my - la vie boheme becomes more and more appealing (and all the more unfeasible) with each passing day. I am depressingly average. I think I want average things. I don't know.

I did try absinthe for the first time last week, though. Ah, the green fairy! Kylie Minogue really IS glittery in person.

How's the weather there? Boston is FREEZING, and it's not letting up anytime soon! It's supposed to snow tonight. I'm excited. :D

Your Victorian Era woman sounds like my literary icon, Josephine March. Now that was a woman with a quick mind -- and and she stood by her dreams. And she didn't even have the option of resumes and cover letters to get ahead - she had to write a whole damn manuscript to get noticed!

Now that absinthe has once again become legal, many of my old soul friends are prancing around with the green fairy. It is definitely a different kind of buzz, that's for sure. The first time I tried it, a Romanian friend @ Flagler smuggled over the borders and brought it to a Super Bowl party. We even incorporated flames into the whole ordeal. It was intense. It made me feel so...tingly?

As for the weather - it is still cold. I think it's right at freezing currently. I am heading out a St. Patty's parade...they celebrate this holiday for a month in Chicago. I'm guessing it's like that in Boston too.

PS. I am OVER the snow!
