Chapter 2:
nbsp; Yamada squeaked and jumped on his chair as Yabu slapped a hand on the smooth wooden table in the great library of the Yabu’s mansion. He looked up to look at the other boy then decided that it was wrong to do so as he earned a glare from Yabu.
“You’re too noisy” Yabu grumbled, resting his head then on one of the books placed on the table
“But~” Yamada tried to say but was stopped
“What are you doing here? What am I doing here even in the first place?” Yabu frowned “Well, I was locked in here, you came in telling me that you are my tutor, how ridiculous that could be!?” he snorted
“Your father asked me personally” Yamada said
“Indeed” Yabu rolled his eyes “You all are all like that, money faced people” he snorted “How much is my dad paying you?” he asked then
“A thousand per day” Yamada answered
“Huh?” Yabu asked
“A thousand per day” Yamada repeated
“That cheap!?” Yabu demanded
“It’s generous” Yamada shook his head
“Are you kidding me?” Yabu asked “A thousand yen won’t last for an hour to me!” he said
“For you but for me it’s enough” Yamada said and tipped his glasses back in place. He pursed his lips then turned a page on the book he was holding. “This is intermediate math, if you can answer the third problem I would tell your father that you don’t need any tutoring but if not then~” he said
“Who said you can do a deal with me?” Yabu frowned but still reached for the book. He squinted on the third problem, pulled back then pointed at another problem “I want to solve problem number five and I’ll agree on that deal” he said
“Okay” Yamada nodded down
nbsp; After spending half an hour solving the problem he chose, Yabu pushed the book towards Yamada who instantly marked it wrong.
“What the!” Yabu exclaimed “You didn’t even check it” he said and glared at Yamada
“It’s wrong even if you turn the world upside down” Yamada sighed “You didn’t even use the right formula to get the answer” he pointed out
“Prove it to me that I am wrong” Yabu said and waited as Yamada flipped on the pages of the book at the last part.
“Here” Yamada said and pointed on the correct answer and solution
“If it’s here all this while, what’s the point of learning this? I could simply just look at the answers and write it!” Yabu demanded
“Because not everyday you’d see the correct answer. Sometimes you just have to solve it yourself and survive” Yamada said and murmured the last ones
“I don’t care” Yabu said and stood up, heading then to the door
“We’re not done yet” Yamada called out and stood as well, tailing after Yabu
“I don’t care and don’t follow me” Yabu glared but was completely ignored as Yamada continued on following him everywhere. “Damn it” he growled and grabbed Yamada on one arm. He growled and pushed the boy away, huffing as he headed back to the table.
nbsp; Yamada rubbed his arm, concealing his expression as he joined Yabu on the table.

“Hora~” Yabu exclaimed as soon as Yamada stepped out of the classroom. He smirked and looked at his friends who nodded down. Pulling his self away from them, he sneaked behind the younger boy and pulled the boy’s glasses off.
nbsp; Startled, Yamada whirled around and looked at Yabu, his eyes wide and searching. Yabu stared at it for a moment, mesmerized to the lightness of the colour. He blinked then shook his self back. He took a step back and watched as the boy simply stood there, waiting then he smirked and snapped the item into two, throwing it then to the ground before stepping on it.
nbsp; Yabu watched as Yamada lifted a hand, stretching it forward, reaching for the glasses. The action was normal and simple but something about it hit Yabu. He stood there, only watching as the latter took as step forward and another until he stumbled down.
“Clumsy” one of his friend chanted and Yamada lifted his head as he heard it. He looked at their direction and raw pain flashed in his eyes for a second.
nbsp; He felt like he was punched especially when Yamada had stood up and started walking to the opposite direction.
“He’s weird” Yabu’s friend commented “He’s always been alone so I never cared, but he’s weird” he said
“Yeah” Yabu scratched his head and looked down on the crushed item on the floor.
nbsp; As their afternoon classes began, Yabu frowned at the empty seat of Yamada. The boy was never absent, as far as he could remember or maybe it wasn’t noticeable since the boy seems to be always alone. But then the door of their classroom opened even before the teacher could notice one of her students is not there. A first year, since the mark on his uniform tells so gave their teacher a smile and then reached for something that the door was hiding. Yabu watched as the first year lead Yamada to the table and murmured something that the latter nodded to. Soon their classes started but even so, Yabu couldn’t help his self but frown at Yamada.

nbsp; Yamada sat there on his table waiting until the classroom was empty. Yuto would come later after an hour to help him go home. With his glasses on, his sight was bad already and without them he’s almost blind. He couldn’t see anything clear unless he draws it close to his face. He bit his lower lip and started putting his books under his table. He took his time since it’s still a long time before he would go home.
nbsp; He was expecting to be alone already but then as the lid of his table slammed down, trapping his left hand inside, squeezing his wrist painfully, Yamada yelped and tried to pull it out but someone was pressing on the lid. He looked up, failing to recognize the one in front of him. His sight was all blurred.
“Oops” Yabu smirked and Yamada instantly recognized his voice. So this is Yabu’s payback after last Sunday.
“My hand” Yamada said
“Why don’t you think of a way to remove it? You’re clever” Yabu commented and snorted
nbsp; Yamada sat there, feeling the pressure on his wrist. He would just wait. Yabu would get tired. Not that he’s going to lose something if his wrist breaks. After some time, finally, the pressure went and Yamada was able to pull his hand away. He touched his wrist and winced as it burns with pain. He bit his lower lip and carefully stood up, reaching out until his hand touched the wall. He started walking then, knowing the direction of the door. Maybe Yabu would do something again but as he reached the door without anything happening, Yamada went out and walked his hand still on the wall, his mind navigating where he should go.
****
nbsp; He was joking when he pressed on the lid that was trapping Yamada’s hand and he would let go if the boy had said something to convince Yabu to stop on pressing. But then the boy had simply sat there, waiting and enduring the pain. He scratched his head and soon let go. As soon as he did so Yamada stood and left without a word.
nbsp; Yabu doesn’t know what’s up with the boy. Yamada’s aloofness was weird enough but he got weirder with that kind of personality.
nbsp; The next morning as Yabu came to school, he saw Yamada by the school gates, standing there a hand on one of the posts holding the gate that will soon close since the bell was about to ring and late comers would be punished. He walked towards the boy and stood there for a moment.
“Yuto?” Yamada said “Is that you?” he asked in despair “You’re late” he said and lifted a hand, catching Yabu’s sleeve
nbsp; Yabu stood there, eyeing the boy then took a step forward. Like a trusting toddler, Yamada took a step forward as well.
“If you’ll take this pace, you won’t be able to go to your classroom” Yamada smiled and somehow that made Yabu suck on his breath. A smile. Yamada’s smile was innocent and pretty.
“You can say that” Yabu said and that took Yamada’s smile away. The boy pulled his hand away.
“Yamachan!” a calling came then which made them turn and look.
nbsp; Yuto panted hard and took hold of Yamada’s hand.
“Sorry” Yuto panted “I’m late~” he went on breathlessly
“Breathe” Yamada said then and the lanky latter did so
“I woke up late, of all days!” Yuto exclaimed “Oh” he blinked then as he looked at Yabu “Yabu-senpai” he said with a little disgust in his tone “Let’s go” he said happily as he turned his attention back to Yamada “After school, we’ll go to the city then I’ll help you get another glasses” he started chattering “Don’t worry about the payment, I’ll buy it for you. Think of it as a birthday gift” he giggled as they walked
“My birthday’s far” Yamada commented then
“Really? Well, just think of it that way” Yuto shrugged “Besides, those last glasses you own was not the right prescription anymore. You needed a new one” he sighed
nbsp; Watching the two ahead of him, Yabu narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth. Well, that first year surely is annoying.
nbsp; After the school bell rang, Yabu waited until all of their classmates had left the room. He wasn’t that stupid not to know the reason why the other day Yamada had stayed behind even after the dismissal was because he was waiting for that annoying first year to help him.
nbsp; Yabu stood up and carefully approached the boy, standing there in front silently watching as the boy takes his time on arranging his books under his table. After his tucking and fixing of things, Yamada sat there silently, his hand hands moving on top of his table and at times he would doodle with his fingers.
nbsp; It was as if needles were being stabbed on him as he stayed silent there. There was something about the boy that Yabu couldn’t quite put rightly and he’s very much disturbed especially with those solemn eyes that was steady on looking at something.
“Let’s go” Yabu said as he grabbed Yamada’s wrist and pulled the boy out of the classroom.
“Yabu~” Yamada gasped “san” he squeaked and nearly tripped as they reached the stairs. Yabu, startled with it, instantly caught the boy around the waist, catching him before he falls down. He wrapped his arms around Yamada’s waist, waited until he regained his balance then stayed that way for a moment.
nbsp; The boy was light unexpectedly. Maybe because the baggy clothing he was wearing was drastically hiding his true from. Yamada smelled neat and his skin is definitely soft and smooth. Their cheeks had brushed on each other earlier, which made Yabu feel the smoothness of the boy’s skin.
“Let’s just go” Yabu sighed as he pulled away and helped Yamada going down the stairs.

nbsp; Yamada blinked and looked at the old man seated in front of him. He tilted his head then adjusted the new glasses he was wearing.
“Ah” the man shook his head “Very poor” he sighed “You have to wait for a week then. Your left eye’s worst than your right but still both are bad. You’re almost blind without glasses, how’d you live without one for two days?” he asked, taking the glasses off Yamada
“Uh~” Yamada started but stopped answering as he tried another glasses on
“Someone like you should keep more than three glasses because you just don’t know when you’d lose them. You could get into an accident without one” the man continued
“You just have to give him one” Yabu snapped and earned a shake of head from the man.
nbsp; Yamada hadn’t forgotten the reason he was here in the first place. He sat up rigid and turned to look at Yabu. The other boy has a disapproving look on his face.
“Yabu-san” the man sighed “Your impatience is not good. You should learn some from your dear mother” he pointed out
“You don’t care” Yabu grumbled
nbsp; Taking several more time in there, Yamada sat silently inside the car that was now driving his way home. He clutched on the case of the temporary glasses given to him earlier then turned to look at Yabu, grumbling at the slowness of the drive.
“I saved some money for the glasses. I’ll give it~” Yamada started
“I don’t need it” Yabu dismissed
“But~” Yamada protested
“I said I don’t need it. Did I say you pay me?” Yabu frowned “I was the one who broke your glasses” he said then
“Oh” Yamada blinked
“You’re annoying and weird” Yabu grimaced “But I felt guilty so sorry” he said
“Thank you” Yamada said then.
nbsp; Yabu glanced to Yamada after hearing the boy’s thank you but then he felt his heart stop as he saw Yamada’s smile. He gulped and tried his best to look away especially with how he felt his frown leaving him.
“Don’t mention it” Yabu mumbled.
