Actually, no... for #2, definitely Polgara the Sorceress. Powerful, motherly, and wise, but somewhat withdrawn and serious due to a few tragedies in life.

2. The Phantom of the Opera. While you're not ugly, I'd argue that (based on what you tell me) few people can look beyond your physical beauty to see the beauty that lies inside.
