When I lived in London, the end of my stay there was a very uncertain time. I had gotten into a huge fight with my roommate and she decided to move out and live with her mother. This was a huge awkward situation since we were at the time living with her step-father and he was letting me live there rent-free. His name was Ken and Ken was a big ( Read more... )

Thanks, I'm glad someone enjoyed it. :) It was such a strong moment in my life and it still is 10 years later.

I'm not sure I knew you were such a Chagall fan. He's one of my absolute favorites. In fact, I recently found an artist who was born in the same town as Chagall, studied at the school Chagall started and auctions off his own art. The colors in it remind me so much of Chagall, I bought a painting from him. It's beautiful.

What I remember from that time is me, Jen and Chella all taking you to the airport and the comedy of errors that was!

hehehe. You knew I loved Chagall because you bought me a DVD about Chagall! We were at Borders and you surprised me. I also remember walking by some building in NY with Jen and stopping to stare because I saw Chagall ... I'm pretty sure it was this -- http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/754/317610.JPG -- the Met Opera.

I had no idea that things had ended that badly. Though, I did know that she was less than stable. On the upside, at least you got out of that place and you were able to have a sight seeing experience before coming back to America.

As sight seeing goes, I think that is a rare find made even more special because of the circumstances.

yeah, the entire time I was living there was really tense. She was very unpredictable, mostly about her binge/purge routine, drugs, her jealousy of me going out without her, and just about everything in between. we did a lot of breakup/makeup for a non-couple. i never actually said goodbye to her before leaving. that was weird.

a year later or so, she did send me a xmas card and IMed to say she'd made a lot of changes in her life and was sorry she'd been awful to me. that was nice, but ultimately not very important, you know? i'd kind of decided to be done with her. so that was that.

there's a lot i rarely mentioned about our relationship because i was under so much stress with other things, like work. also, at the time, i was being paid under her name because i was an illegal immigrant worker.so if i talked shit about her online, she could hold back my wages and she did a few times. also, she took my computer one day and erased the entire harddrive, and then on top of that, hid it behind the couch. she liked to fuck with me a

This is a really beautiful post. I hope that things are going well for Ken now.
I've walked the places where you've walked in London, and I never really felt part of it. From what I read in your post and your comments, you made a good decision to leave. Things like that can really wear you down, it is better to leave. I always think that if something is meant to be, you will get more opportunities to come back. Things shouldn't be hard and difficult, you know.

thanks! I hope so, too. I haven't spoken to him since.
And at first I missed London, but now I realize I don't want to go back so badly. If I had a reason, maybe, but I'd rather explore more of the world then revisit what I know.
