Since Joe is self-employed he doesn't have any kind of retirement plan, and he's been joking lately that whenever he gets a .50 piece or gold dollar or two dollar bill he will save it for retirement. Today I withdrew from my account at work ($17) and took everyone's half dollars and silver dollars and whatnot. I'm thinking of getting him a little

not at all. But of course your talking to someone who collects piggy banks. =)

they sell plain ones at the craft store that you could write on with a paint pen. Or if you look around at various shops you could find a cute one. I have a cowboy piggy bank, a ballerina, a birthday one, several decorated with flowers, one that says "wedding fund" on it, etc. (this all goes back to my days in grad school when I worked with pigs).

But aside from that its a great idea to start saving up loose change.

Well, we save the regular loose change and then wrap it and deposit it. He never spends the "funny money" as he calls it. So I thought it would be a good idea. I have a clay pot type thing that says "Hope and Dreams" on it. I think I got it at the Hallmark Store. Maybe I could find one that says "Retirement Fund" on it...

I actually found one on Ebay. I typed in "retirement fund" and it brought up a whole list of piggy banks and stuff. I put a bid on the pot and I'm winning right now. The auction ends in a couple hours. Hopefully I'll win. :)
