dr freud interprets : losing something that you usually take for granted. you won't know its true value till you need it in instances like, say, rockclimbing. you got it back, sure, but things are not the same anymore. a cloud hangs over it?
Both left and right hands are part of your body.. perhaps as the left hand is seldom used during your normal daily routine,u never realise the importance of having your left hand..hence when it is being cut of from your body..u felt a sense of lost and u can't bear to throw it away hoping that it will come back to life, however u know that it is impossible again and u decided to throw it away..
Sometime later...ur left hand grew back but it was not like wat is is before as u know that u have regretted for not treasuring it until u lost it..
:)
Thats my interpretation version of your dream...similar to badnomad
But i feel that u are really very fortunate at the end for having ur left hand grown back as some people might not evn have that chance in their whole life again..:) And they will only have to regret and accept wat they are left to be with to live for the rest of their life...:)
So i always believe in treasuring wat i have and appreciate wat i have around me...:)

About-to-be-doctoress-wong-in-four-years spins her yarn here!
If you're generally right handed, then badnomad's interpretation is probably quite spot on (intuitively, that's what's coming to me from my Higher Divine). Metaphysically though, we often receive energy with our left palm chakra and give energy with our right palm chakra. There are probably a number of meanings behind this and only you will truly know the spiritual significance behind this, but my thoughts would go with you probably putting yourself in a position where you ability to receive gifts, thoughts, energies, input, feelings will change and grow a little more cynical over the years. Prophetic or not? That's up to you. Dreams often show one possibility and choice. However, the end result is often how you take the scenario you're given and work with it to see how it turns out.
I think it's got something to do with the recent postings by gambit_69 and pepebrowne on the Buddhist concept of attachment. Another way to look at it: one door closing so another may open.
