Very thought-provoking. I think you've hit on something very deep here, about the ability of both of them to rise above their own interests. Of course, you also deftly point out that he is selling his own contribution short. Sad and heroic, with a dash of the truly horrifying thrown in. Well done.

I think that is always my point. A true champion will never see their own contribution for what it truly is. They will always focus on others around them and how much they mean to whatever situation is happening.

That is why Angel bugged me so much. He focused on himself and HIS redemption. Not how much better he could make other's lives.

This breaks my heart. Pain and love and sacrifice. The idea that Spike's last thoughts would be how truly special Buffy was to him and the world.

Thank you, Sweetness! Have I turned into the angst writing chic lately, or what? lol Can't help it w/life being what it is. It tends to make me write this kinda of stuff and I have so not been able to write on my fluff S/B fic because of it.
