Siwon pushed open the door to Minho’s temporary room and checked that the boy was truly asleep. He let out a soft sigh and wished he wouldn’t have to do this but knew it was for the best or was it only for his own gain. Siwon closed the door and crept down towards the basement of the church. He would deal with Minho’s problems once he had battled with his own personal demons. Siwon slowly opened the door and reached over to flick the light switch up. Small dots of light came to life around the basement as red eyes turned in the gloom to stare at him. There was only one pair of eyes Siwon was interested in as he walked through the bodies parting like a black sea around him. Two pale lips pulled apart in a sadistic smile as Siwon came to stand in front of the man lounging on a couch that had been dragged down ages ago.

“I have housed you and your kind for the agreed amount of time, now leave.” Siwon’s voice was strong and unwavering but there was a hint of fear in his eyes, a fear of something he could not even begin to understand, with or without the help of his God. The red eyes gave a flicker of amusement as the man stood and studied Siwon’s stony expression for a moment. Siwon almost thought that he would be mocked and refused or something even worse but the vampire only shrugged and brushed past the holy man. “I will honor our agreement Choi.” Siwon wouldn’t allow himself a breath of relief until the stench of death was free from his nostrils and his church. One by one, the vampires slipped through the grate that led to a network of underground tunnels that ran like spider webs under the city. The leader stayed behind a moment and glanced over at Siwon would have started to drag the couch over to block the grate in hopes that the vampires would never return.

“You would do well to dissuade your little brother from the path he has set himself on.” Siwon’s eyebrows shot up at the obvious promise of death in the vampire’s voice and felt his instincts run wild as his chest puffed out. He would never let this spawn of the Devil come near Minho; there was no doubt in his mind that Minho was the one in question here. The vampire noticed how Siwon became somewhat offensive and laughed.

“Never return here Seungho. Turn your thoughts from my little brother or I will bring down the full force of the lord onto your damned head.” Seungho merely laughed as he dropped down into the grate and followed after his clan. The eerie sound of the vampire’s laughter embedded itself in Siwon’s mind as he pushed the couch over the grate and mumbled a prayer to himself as he headed back up the stairs. He would speak with Minho on this as soon as the boy was awake. This was something too dire to leave off for a later date or when Minho found he was ready to speak of it himself.

“Oh Minho. What trouble have you attracted?”

Kibum grumbled and opened his eyes slowly, looking passed Jonghyun to see his phone vibrating and singing at him. He hated his text tone sometimes as he shifted to crawl over the vampire, shivering and letting out a breathy laugh as Jonghyun started to tease his hands down Kibum’s naked sides. The boy found his attention was slowly slipping from curiosity to whom texted him to enjoying the feel of being in someone’s arms again, even if said someone could use a few minutes in a hot shower to warm up. The phone played the text tone again and won over Kibum’s attention for the time being as he batted at the mischievous hands mapping across his body and read the text.

Jonghyun watched the playful expression on Kibum’s face fade to one of concern then outrage as the latter emotion was turned and directed at him. The boy tore out of Jonghyun’s arms and pressed his back against the wall, pointing a finger at Jonghyun as his mouth worked open and closed. The clueless look on Jonghyun’s face must have pulled Kibum back into some state of his right mind as he turned and let the vampire read the text Minho had managed to send. Jonghyun closed his eyes and rubbed at his temple as the memory of what a migraine felt like started to plague his body. He had been hoping he wouldn’t have to do this anytime soon but this always tended to happen eventually when Jinki had found Minkyung’s reincarnate. Trouble always came before any sort of happiness that may have followed.

“I guess I should explain shouldn’t I…?” Kibum nodded briskly as he watched Jonghyun shift and sit up, the vampire looking too sad and rejected to keep the human from crawling into his side and snuggling against him. He couldn’t explain why he did it, he just had to be next to Jonghyun again, had to feel his solidness and make sure he was real and wasn’t going to leave him like all the others tended to do, because one way or another Kibum always ended up alone at night. Jonghyun gladly accepted Kibum’s warmth and wrapped an arm around him tightly to make sure he didn’t try and run away again.

“It started back at least a century maybe even more than that. Jinki had fell in love with this man named Minkyung and even then it was wrong to have intimate feelings towards the same sex. Jinki was just a lowly farmer and Minkyung’s father was in the emperor’s army as some sort of high ranking official. Jinki did everything and anything to keep Minkyung’s affections but one day they were found out. Jinki was banished from seeing Minkyung ever again.” Jonghyun looked down at Kibum’s face and watched as his expression changed. Jinki had always done what he could to get by but Jonghyun knew it had been hard on him. The stony way his eyes would set when he was no doubt thinking of his past over and over again. Those memories that would never fade no matter how long he lived on that stayed locked away in a special part of his mind. As Jonghyun spoke and weaved the tale of how a truly desperate Jinki heard of a man who could grant him any wished asked of him, Kibum wondered if Jonghyun had somehow faced a similar fate to this. It almost hurt him to think that he had been rejected by someone before and turned to become this just for a chance to be with them.

“This man’s name is Seungho and he is here in Seoul. He fell in love with Jinki as soon as he saw him so of course he changed him into what he was but he didn’t exactly change him fully. It’s why Jinki’s eyes are silver and not red like all the others. When Jinki was changed it wasn’t finished properly and so he is a vampire but he is…stronger than them. It’s complicated but…” Kibum looked up and studied Jonghyun’s eyes, how golden and warm they were despite his cold body. He wanted to ask if Jonghyun was the same as Jinki but the answer was too obvious that he didn’t feel the need to express it out loud.

“When Seungho realized that Jinki wouldn’t love him as long as Minkyung was alive he had him killed. Jinki didn’t find out about this till years and years later. He turned into Seungho’s little pet and Seungho loved it. Jinki was his and no one else’s. Well one of Seungho’s past little flings got jealous and told Jinki everything. Since then Jinki has never trusted or loved Seungho but Seungho is determined to get Jinki back. So that’s where we stand today.” Jonghyun shrugged and barely glanced up when he heard the front door open and close. He was glad for that pesky boy to be gone from the apartment; he wanted to spend the day in bed with Kibum, weaving his fingers through the boy’s hair and listen to him talk and laugh as he told the vampire any and everything that came to mind. Jonghyun just wanted to be normal it seemed. “Seungho knows of Minho already and I’m more than sure that something bad will happen. Something bad always happens…” He sighed and turned his head a bit, burying his nose in Kibum’s hair and breathing in the scent of his human.

Kibum gave out a soft sigh and snuggled closer into Jonghyun’s side, unsure of what he could really do to help Minho except send Jonghyun to his help but there was a selfish part of him that didn’t want to involve the vampire. He had only just found him and now he was sending him to fight a battle that wasn’t even his. Minho was his best friend but his soul had been going through the motions of all this for centuries. Kibum was sure that Minho would know how to handle himself. Right?

Taemin smirked softly to himself as he walked off the college campus and started to search. He’d finally found the answer he’d been searching for all along. He could get rid of this Jinki character and Minho would be all his. Surely now Minho would see that Taemin was more than enough for him and come running with open arms. But first he just had to find where this Seungho person could possibly be hiding. He looked down at his watch and figured it was only thirty minutes till sunset. That was more than enough time to get towards the shadier parts of the city. Wasn’t that were vampires tended to hang out in books and movies? It wasn’t like he had a lot of expertise on the subject but he was sure he’d find what he was looking for.

Sure enough once night had fallen completely, Taemin found himself sitting in one of the booths off to the side in an already packed nightclub. Bodies were moving and packed together on the dance floor and if Taemin wasn’t looking for someone he might be in the middle of the throng, weaving and tossing his body around to the throbbing bass coming from the DJ’s booth. He didn’t notice someone coming to sit down in the booth next to him until a pair of lips was almost at his ear and a silky voice was whispering to him. “What’s a pretty thing like you doing here all alone?” Taemin snapped his head to the side and stared into a pair of blood red eyes that sent a cold chill down his spine as a thumb pressed against his neck and his eyes rolled back as he slumped down.

The vampire laughed and lifted the boy easily, moving like a shadow out of the club and towards the warehouse his master had decided to take up residence. There wasn’t much he could really say about the hideout since it kept the sunlight out during the day and a bit of the ceiling could be moved to the side to let moonlight stream in. Seungho always had a way with picking places, just like he had chosen the church. They never really questioned Seungho anymore these days, they all knew what he was always after and though some of them tended to disagree with their master’s obsession over the one who had got away. They were never allowed to say his name for fear of Seungho’s temper. The vampire pushed the door of the warehouse open and walked over to wear the leader of the clan was resting on a crate, staring off into the space as he no doubt relived old memories.

“Sir…I brought you something.” The vampire called out quietly and tossed the boy to rest at Seungho’s feet. Taemin let out a soft moan and curled in on himself, eyes fluttering and looking around his surroundings. Seungho gave a soft sniff and turned place his eyes on the human boy. He leaned over and lifted the boy up to his knees, cold fingers turning his head this way and that. “Leave us.” The command sent the few vampires that were still in the warehouse scurrying away, knowing that it would be best to leave Seungho and his newest plaything alone for the moment. Even they didn’t have strong enough stomachs for some of the ways Seungho played with people.

“My name is Seungho and today just might be the day you die.” Taemin’s eyes widened for a moment before he registered the name and gave a soft laugh, eyes falling into feline slits. Seungho raised an eyebrow at the sudden change in his prey and found he was very interested in why this had happened. He had expected the begging, the crying, or even the rare time when some tried to fight back but this, this was very much new to him. “What is so funny, human?” Taemin knocked the hand off of his chin and took a moment to appraise Seungho quietly. So this was the vampire who was going to make all his problems go away, or rather make this Jinki problem go away. He didn’t seem much to look at but in the gloominess of the warehouse it was hard to see anything except the bright red eyes that were filled with endless amusement.

“I know why you’re in Seoul, Seungho, and I can help you if you help me.” Taemin gave a soft smirk and straightened his posture, confidence radiating from his slim body. “I know Minho personally and I can keep him away from Jinki if you keep Jinki away from him.” Seungho was instantly interested with the offer. He knew a way to get to Minho but he had never expected another opportunity to present himself so soon. He knew, however, that this boy wanted something in return and gave a sinister smile, white fangs gleaming in the dark. “What do you want in return then human?”

Taemin gave a soft smirk and Seungho saw in the boy something that should have made him retract his offer immediately but he was blinded by the chance of once again having Jinki in his arms. It was one of the mistakes he’d come to regret for the rest of his life.
