Out of the three major species of edible native berries in these parts, I like thimble berries the best. However, they're not quite in season yet. Salmon berries, on the other hand, are very much ripe for the picking right now.

Store bought fruit doesn't hold a candle to fresh-picked, especially when it's off of wild plants instead of farmed. Mmm

Thimbleberries are the most delicious ever. I remember visiting Haines, AK one summer and finding them EVERYWHERE. It was like heaven, only more so.
