“I wonder if you can love someone forever in a single afternoon.” | 487w
» I still wonder if a single afternoon is enough to love someone’s entirety.

The hot afternoon sun was blazing down from the slightly open window. No breeze was coming in, causing sweat to trickle down the sides of Chaeyoung’s head while she squirmed under Chanyeol’s touch.

“Chanyeol,” she murmured. She thought about all the murmurs and whispers exchanged, secret conversations that lasted for hours, just talking about the wonders of life and how there is a tad more wonder in the world because she existed. His words kept her up all night, pages of her diary lighting up from her scrawny writing, trying to write everything he said exactly the way he said it.

“Chanyeol,” she said as he locked his hands with hers. Chaeyoung thought about all the times she would see him with her, at a random café, at a restaurant, at the park by the swing set, holding hands as he caressed her hand with his thumb. Chaeyoung would always see his face light up while they hold hands, him taking in a deep breath, and always, him looking into her eyes with all the love in the world as he kissed her hand. Through all these times, she always cried. Because oh how she loved him, it was stupid to think that he could ever kiss her hand like that. Not in this lifetime, no.

“Chanyeol,” she breathed as he kissed her, his mouth moving in sync with hers. She thought about all the stolen glances in the office lounge when he sat too close to her table. She would look up to see him staring at her with that wonderful smile he always had on his face, and as he would stand up to leave, he always walked past her to give a note. The note would always say to meet him some place nice and quiet.

Today it was her bedroom. Because oh how she loved him, she couldn’t bring herself to tell him that this is wrong and everything they were doing is wrong. The feeling of him was too much a drug to make her hold back. And now, as he kissed his way down to her chest, she thought maybe he knows this would be the last. The last time she would feel his touch on her body, the last time she would hear his little sighs and grunts when they kiss, the last time she would hear her name being uttered against his lips. Because all those intimate moments with Chanyeol weren’t really for Chaeyoung, will never be for Chaeyoung, when wedding bells were set to ring for him and he would be bound to another for the rest of eternity.

But Chaeyoung, she didn’t need an eternity to let Chanyeol know she loved him. She only needed some place nice and quiet at 15 past one to whisper “I love you” while soft sobs left her mouth. Chanyeol knew she meant it, and it was good enough for her.

“I wish I had fallen in love with somebody a little more handsome, of course. But I didn’t. I fell in love with you.” | 667w
» my loooooong overdue fic for you hehe. I don’t think this is what you wanted, but here you go~

There is nothing likeable about Im Jaebum.

For everyone else at school, that is. All they see is this straight A’s new kid whom all the teachers loved, always spending time either in the cafeteria or in the library, hiding behind his glasses and not speaking to anybody. Sure, they see him for a lot of things. Like Seulgi.

But it’s different for her. She sees this guy who has straight A’s, maybe he can tutor me too; always by himself in the cafeteria or the library, should I sit with him one of these days?; hiding behind his glasses, I’m sure he’s got the most lovely eyes; not speaking to anybody, I bet he has the most wonderful things to say about life and the universe; deep inside all of these, there’s a beautiful person that’s just waiting to come out of his shell.

Seulgi is determined that she make this happen. And she finds the opportunity in front of her, when she sees Jaebum walking home from school.

He always walks home alone, she thinks. She rides the bus to and from school, and she always sees Jaebum walking alone, earphones on, gaze deep in thought. She always wonders what must be inside his head for him to always have the same expression, that same curious expression on his face.

She is determined to ask him about that and more, and as he looks over his shoulder to look at her, she feels all the words go out of her for a moment.

She stops abruptly, and he does the same. “H-hi. Jaebum, right?”

He takes off his earphones and nods. “Mm. Do you need anything? Seulgi, right?”

He knows me, she thinks as she nods. “Nothing, really. Can I walk with you?”

Before he can say anything, Seulgi continues to walk, leaving Jaebum a few steps behind before catching up to her. There is silence, and it is only natural that Jaebum be the first one to say something.

“Aren’t you riding the bus? We’re a long ways off.”

“I think I can manage, there’s still a little more time before sunset.” She looks down on her feet while a slight pink creeps up to her cheeks. “This is out of the ordinary, I know, but you’re the new kid and it’s been a few months and you’re still walking alone. I feel like you could use a friend.”

Jaebum smiles before saying “well, thanks”. Seulgi is smiling now, too. “Everybody thinks I’m pretty weird, that’s why.”

Seulgi wants to protest that no, that’s not true, I think you’re amazing, when he adds, “But I guess not everybody.”

She can feel her cheeks flushing a bright red. “Well, hehe, you’re cool, Jaebum. At least one person from school thinks so. Oh, by the way, I’m going stargazing tonight. There’s supposed to be this meteor shower going on, and none of my friends want to go, so I was thinking, would you like to come with me?”

Jaebum says yes faster than she can think please say yes, please say yes, and she sees his face light up. It isn’t the last time Seulgi sees his face light up, for she sees it a couple of times more when they went stargazing, and it is here that she realized that he has the most fascinating view of the world, he just has a way with words; has the most incredible eyes, I could lose myself in them; has the most wonderful smile that sends her head spinning. Im Jaebum is a beautiful human being, and as they look up to the sky as the first wave arrives, he can’t have possibly heard Seulgi utter you’re amazing under her breath when he, too, is busy looking at the meteor-filled sky. There is nothing likeable about Im Jaebum, nothing at all, because really, everything is to love.

“We’re free-floating souls on the way to nowhere. But hey, we might as well be free-floating souls together, right?” | 1032w
» I just thought of this pairing one random evening and I think they’re perfect for each other + they’re a kang couple + they’re both your biases so yey!

It was the last song of Younghyun’s second straight gig of the night, and Seulgi was growing more and more uneasy. It was 11 minutes past ten in the evening, and she was sure he was close.

She tapped her fingers on the metal table as she listened to her boyfriend sing her favourite song. He always saved this song for all the gigs’ finales because he knew she would be listening. And he always wanted it to be her at the end of everything. He looked for her in the crowd and locked eyes with her. That sparkle in his eyes, that was what always kept her going. That was the only thing keeping her going. If it weren’t for him, she’d be lost and crazy.

All the more that she wanted to get out of there. The bar was slightly crowded at this time of the week, as it was a Saturday and everyone was outside getting a few drinks. They were in the middle of nowhere and this crowd was typical, she told herself they had been to far worse places, places that they even wondered bothered accepting gigs when everyone was either busy on the dance floor or up to their noses in alcohol to notice the band playing.

Any minute now. I’m sure he’s coming.

The last of the drums were heard and Younghyun said a couple of thanks. He jumped out of the podium and made his way to where Seulgi sat.

“What’s the matter? You seem to be out of it.”

“He’s coming, Younghyun. Again.”

“Crap. Hey, Jae, we have to leave. Now.”

“Aw, what? But I’m only on my first shot.”

He took Seulgi’s hand in his, bass guitar still slung to his right shoulder. They walked to his old pick-up truck and waited for the other guys to get onto the car before stepping on the accelerator. It was only then that Seulgi was able to breathe.

“Where are you off to next? We have a gig somewhere in San Diego.”

“Perfect. I’m stationed near the Bay Area, a guy needs some backup dancers for a music video.”

“It’s going to be a drive. I don’t think my truck’s gonna hold up.”

“We’ll think of something.”

Running on a couple of dollar bills and leftover junk food, this was the life that Seulgi chose. Out in the unknown with no particular destination. Just roaming around America accepting all the dancing stints she could find. And now, with her stepdad on his heels trying to find her, she wasn’t so sure if she could escape the consequences. America is, in fact, a small country.

This was the life Seulgi chose, and it was all for Younghyun. When they first met, she thought she had never seen such a spirit, a spirit so alive. She saw him for the first time at a bar playing the bass, and he just seemed to glow whenever he played, and he always did until now. When they started dating, she took him to one of her dancing events in Atlanta, and what Seulgi saw in Younghyun he also saw in her, a spirit on fire that he, too, wanted to burn in there. They decided after a couple of months that they were to leave, pursue their passions, work to perfect their craft, all while being each other’s rock. They had a half thought-out plan that went really well.

The plan did not involve her abusive stepdad who was the only “family” she had left, and she was intent on keeping it that way.

Her hand was still intertwined with his, and he caressed hers with his thumb. “I don’t think he’s going to find us.”

She was still looking out the window. “I don’t know. I’m just anxious.”

There was silence as they drove a couple more miles to the nearest motel. They wasted no time in raiding the convenience store beside the motel and checking in half-done and smelly rooms, just like every other room in every other motel in the middle of nowhere.

Seulgi went inside the room she always shared with Younghyun, then went straight for the bed, sleep starting to take over. She heard the door shut and felt a pair of arms close in around her.

She turned around to face him. “Are we going to be alright?”

He moved to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “Of course we are. We’ve been at this for almost a year, I know we can keep going for two more decades.”

She half-heartedly smiled. “Younghyun, you know how much I love you, right?”

“I know. You tell me every day.”

She grazed her thumb on his bottom lip. “Please don’t ever let go. Promise me.”

There was silence, and only their steady breathing was heard. Younghyun looked at Seulgi and he saw the same fiery spirit he had grown to live by all this time, and he knew that if that fire was to be put out, he would not make it. How could she be telling me this? I’m in this for life.

Seulgi looked at Younghyun and she saw the same glowing spirit she had always regarded as her personal halo, and she knew that if that glow was gone, she would slowly fade along with the dimming light.

“I won’t ever let go. I promise.” He kissed her with the strength he could muster without crying. Seulgi is a delicate flower, my delicate flower. I am her picket fence as long as I am able.

She kissed him with tears spilling down her cheeks. Younghyun is a palace, my own strong palace. I am his guard and protector, even if it meant a bullet to my heart, unfaltering.

As their minds raced with vows spoken a million times over, their bodies clashed and collided, each strand of hair tingling at the sensation, each bead of sweat shining on bare skin, each word of passion loud against sore lips. Seulgi had found solace and comfort in an alien part of the world, but the feeling was all too familiar, for it had Younghyun at the beginning and end of it.
