Just want to mention that it's gotten insanely difficult for me to get behind LJ posts in the last few months-- I think the pages are so lousy with scripts that's it's just getting beyond me. It's especially bad during the day, but it's a problem all the time. It makes commenting more difficult, unfortunately ( Read more... )

I use a Chrome knockoff, Comodo Dragon, though unfortunately I haven't been able to update it for a few months, as the updates won't install. If you have any ideas about why, I'd be happy to hear them. It's still supposed to be fine for XP, and it doesn't give me any helpful hints, just says "installation failed." Since they stupidly make you download the whole thing every time, which takes me two hours, I've given up trying. I may have to switch over to Opera soon as my main browser.

My LJ problems have been going on forever though. I'll definitely keep e-mail as a back-up. I just wish the whole world would defect to Dreamwidth. It's weird, but it's better than this!

I have no idea why the installation keeps failing; do you delete the old version first? Some programs will install over the top of the old ones and some just won't.

One thing I've found with both Chrome and Firefox is that I have to clear the cache very, very frequently, something I almost never had to do with Explorer, or I have problems with both LJ and FB. I've read that it's a constant problem for most folks using them.

That's a good idea, I used to clear it more often but it's such a pain in the neck to reload every page completely with my connection I've gotten quite reluctant to do it. There's something extra going on with my access to this site though-- I don't know if it's just the slow connection, or something to do with how it's accessed (not something I understand very well). And today it was down the entire day.

The install has normally removed the old version and installed the new one. I've done it several times before and never had a problem. I know AVG has installed some little add-ons; I don't know if that has something to do with it. Chrome is awfully temperamental, but it really has been faster for me. I still think more people should use Opera, though!
