Borus: *out and about taking advantage of the mild weather that day, he wanders by the lake enjoying the fresh air and warm sunlight*
Rahal: *poor Borus is about to get a major surprise, as a massive blue dragon with horns is barreling towards him across the sand, letting out high trills of warning*
Borus: *hears the loud noise from behind him and turns around only to stare at the quickly approaching ... creature before jumping out of its way* What in the ... world?
Rahal: *whistles sharply and sits back, Flail skidding to a halt in a flurry of sand, shaking her head* Oh, oh my goodness, are you all right? *he hopes down and hurries over to Borus*
Borus: *frowning as he gets a better look at the strange creature before turning to Rahal* I'm fine, thank you. But what ... is that thing you were riding?
Rahal: Oh, thank goodness. *turns back and whistles a different tune, Flail tromping over with a snort* This is my dragon horse, Flail.
Borus: *blinks as he stares up at Flail* Dragon horse? It's not a ... cross between the two, is it? Because that seems rather impossible to me.
Rahal: No, it's a domesticated dragon breed, but we can ride them like a horse. Hence their name.
Borus: Oh, I see. *still regarding Flail curiously* They're obviously not from around here or anywhere close to here. I've never seen one before in my life. Nor had I heard of them until now.
Rahal: Ah, well, I'm from Falena, and the dragons are native there. *reaches back and rubs above Flail's eyes, the dragon rumbling musically*
Borus: Falena, really? That's quite a distance away. *smiles for a moment before catching himself and extending a hand* My apologies, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Borus Redrum.
Rahal: Oh! Yes, I'm sorry, I'm Rahal. It's a pleasure to meet you Borus. And, as you know, this is my partner, Flail.
Borus: A pleasure to make both of your acquaintance. *smiles* My steed Firestorm is here as well, so I understand how important Flail must be for you.
Rahal: *chuckles* Yes, she is dear to me. *the dragon horse trilled and nudged him, Rahal laughing and petting her* So, Firestorm is to you like Midnight is to Percival then?
Borus: *is pleased that he was already acquainted with Percival* Heh, and like what Phoenix is to Lady Chris. All six of us have our own horses. I bet you two are enjoying the warmer weather as well? I'm sure there isn't a winter that far south where you're from.
Rahal: Well, technically there is, but it's nothing like it was here. I'm so happy Kaiden built that furnace to keep the stables warm. Without it, I fear I would have lost Flail.
Borus: Ah, that would have been a shame. It's good that we have so many people here who can help in so many different ways. We really lack for little here at Budehuc. It's like a small town, really.
Rahal: I've come to see it, and I admit I've fallen steadily more in love with it's charms. Flail rather likes it too - when it's not cold of course. *grins and pats her neck*
Borus: *glances around the castle grounds with a proud smile* It's something else, really. It used to be a run down place with few people looking after it and it was completely insignificant in the eyes of the Council. But during the war, it became a central place for the lot of us. It became what it is today.
Rahal: I read the histories, and you're right, it is really amazing. It's hard to imagine it as the little run down place you describe.
Borus: *nods* It's come a long way. *sighs* A shame I was never really around to be a part of it. Always running around doing stupid errands for the Council ...
Rahal: I can understand that. I'm the Commander of the Falena Dragon Calvary. It's taken some of the joy out of being part of the Calvary.
Borus: *blinks* Taken some of the joy? What do you mean?
Rahal: It's tiresome, to be honest. My advisors are stringent old men and I find myself fighting with them more and more as I try to make the Calvary better. It took me months of nearly daily debates to get them open the Calvary to women.
Borus: *raises an eyebrow* I see. Doesn't sound much different from the old men on our Council. I'm sorry you have to put up with that but if it helps any, at least they have someone like you who can advocate for improvement.
Rahal: It's quite all right, though thank you for your kind words. I'm just glad I can spend more time with Flail and... breathing.
Borus: Breathing? Did you nearly ...?
Rahal: Oh, no, I'm just exaggerating. Though it feels like I can't breathe half the time with my job. I spend all my time running around trying to solve things that I'm lucky my attendant remembers to force three meals on me a day.
Borus: *sighs and glances out towards the water* Sometimes, I wonder if my captain feels like that. I'd hate for her to wind up passing out again out of exhaustion or lack of enough food.
Rahal: You mean Lady Chris? Yes, it would upsetting. But I think that's what's good about this place. All of us can just sit down for a minute and actually enjoying something. *turns to Flail and rubs her head* Yes, you love all this warm sand don't you? I bet you do.
Borus: *looks surprised* Ah, so you know Lady Chris as well? *thinks to himself that he really ought to get better acquainted with more people* Easier said than done for some people. You can't pull Lord Salome away from the paperwork to join the rest of us in the tavern. You'd think he was afraid of getting drunk.
Rahal: *isn't going to tell Borus he isn't allowed around alcohol period* Well, yes, there are some people like that. *behind him Flail groans and settles in the sand, and even then her head is still slightly above Rahal's*
Borus: Yeah, I know. *glances back towards the castle* Well, I better head back. I was hoping to see if I could run into Lady Chris out here but she must be inside ...
Rahal: *chuckles* Yes, of course. It was pleasure meeting you, Borus. And I'm sorry we almost ran you over. *Flail decide at that moment to snort*
Borus: *shakes his head and smiles* Likewise and no apologies are necessary. Take care. *and with a short wave, he heads back to the manor.
