my two and a half cents... your lj is your lj- use it for what you like- it doesnt have to be a social network or a 12 step-py kind of thing or anything more than just a way to show off artwork or poetry... it's for whatever...
for me- my lj is about recording things- so when i go back and can see how far i've come, or to remember silly things or absurb things that strike me on a particular time. i HONESTLY do back and reread my posts- like last nite for example... i was really depressed and feel like i've been floundering for so long until i actually saw how far i've come in life.
i also use my lj to vent sometimes- not to look for advice or virtual hugs- just to get it off my chest and out into the universe. when i see it out there in front of me- most times i realize what my problem was or see how silly i was being or whatever....
