Honestly, I don't get twitter. I don't mean to insult anybody by this, but how shallow do you have to be to think that people care about what you're doing at every moment in the day?
Maybe there is something I'm just not getting about it, but I see no practical use for it.
The celebrity thin is kind of cool, but I think that if I had something to say to a celebrity I would simply email them and hope to get a response with more substance than 140 characters.
As far as the first scenario you mention, while it would not be useless, I see it as a solution to a situation where the problem is illusionary. If my plans change, I will call at least one person and then they can tell the rest when they meet. Or if I need to tell everyone we are meeting at a different place, I'll just call them.
So to me, while it can make certain situations easier, they weren't hard in the first place.
