Okay, short story is, I am moving to an apartment in the Frederick area on April 1st. I don't have to be out of the old place until the 8th, so at least I don't have to move everything on one go. I will hopefully be moving boxes and so forth before the weekend of the 4th-5th, and move the furniture on the weekend.
Ok, my sister, who had been working in the Philippines and got laid off in December, has decided to come home instead of trying to find another job from over there. There was some discussion as to how to juggle who lives where, and Mom and I decided the best thing for us was to get an apartment in the area. This will be cheaper, and less crowded than staying in the townhouse we are in now. The new place is on the south side, between 15 and 270 so I can jump on either one easily depending where I am going.
Here's the freaky thing, though. After I moved here a year ago I gave all of the boxes to
dance_shiva and
ausir to use for their move later in the year. After they were done with them they gave them back to me. At the time I didn't expect to get them back, and I didn't know why they were returning them instead of giving them to the next person who was moving. Well, turns out _I_ was the next person who was moving. Holy shit!
On the theatre front, we gave our best performance ever of The Open Meeting. Unfortunately, we were up against 11 other groups, and at least half of them were very good. So as a consequence we didn't earn any awards. It may be a function of our total lack of budget as compared to most other states. It may be that the judges preferred musicals to straight plays and tended to give them more notice. It may be that the judges decided they would look like idiots if they put forward a production whose set consists entirely of a folding table and four folding chairs. Whatever the reason, it was a bit of a bummer getting no recognition, but it was cool to get that far anyway, and for the most part we had a lot of fun.
Also on the theatre front, I am in a production of Plaza Suite at the Castaways Repertory Theatre company in the lead role(s) that George C. Scott played when it was on Broadway. Since I moved to Frederick, I had largely decided that the drive to and from Woodbridge was too far to commit to a play down there. I had also decided I wasn't going to accept non-paying roles if I could help it. However, the director is our stage manager for The Open Meeting, and she practically begged me to take the role. I told her that I'd do it because it was her asking.
