I have always loved Lisa Simpson, even though when I first started watching this show I was probably too young to know I was picking up on any way of looking at male/female and social norms.

But... she was feminist when feminism wasn't cool, so to speak, and I love her for that.

She was different not only when it comes to male/female roles, but she was kind of the conscience of the show. She knew right from wrong and was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in!

Rock on, Lisa!

And... I find the topic of your blog fascinating!

While I haven't done the full research, given that Lisa was espousing feminist ideas as early as 1993, she could probably be pointed out as one of the earliest popular feminists on primetime TV.

I like how you're fitting in television with our feminism class! Very interesting take. And me myself not being a big Simpsons fan, I did not know that Lisa is well known for voicing feminist arguments - love it!
