Marten Reed isn't a real person, and I'm not even a music person!

How wrong is it that I looked up a group because they're a webcomic character's favorite band, and that I actually like what I've heard of their music so far?

music, questionable content, webcomics, security: public

Mogwai - at least until my mom started watching frontline and I turned it off.

Have you become indie?

No. In fact, one thing that has colored my reading of QC (and kept me from it before) is that I do not and have never related to the character's music obsessions (or tastes).

It's not that I've fallen in love with the band, just that I heard one of their songs, and liked it.

Someday you too will learn the joys of albums that start with fourteen minutes of progressive noodling.

I'm all for a variety of different music, I'm just not about labeling myself where my musical tastes are concerned, never mind constructing my identity around them - that's what computers and politics are for doing.

Why, do you consider yourself indie?
