While the Elves dwelt beside the gods in Valinor, Melkor lay chained in the darkest dungeons of the world. However, despite his evil deeds, Manwe kept his promise and released his brother after 4 ages of bondage. Thus began the First Age of the Sun and the Doom of the Noldor. Finwe, king of the Noldor Elves, had a son born to him named Feanor.
