I know word has already spread, but I want to make sure that people know that valerie_z has passed away. Her sister, talula728, has posted two explanations here and here. I had the chance to meet Valerie several years ago and always followed her ups and downs on LJ with interest. Despite her struggles, she remained brilliant and hilarious.

I didn't know her or ever share a fandom but I did read the absolute outpouring of love and condolences in her sister's journal. She was obviously very much loved and will be missed. It is so hard to lose someone in fandom, it's really a special bond.

She was really unique. VERY smart, funny, creative. She had some issues with finding the right dose of meds to keep her stable, but apparently things were going well for her when this happened. I am so, so sorry for her family.

Thank you for posting this. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I'm glad so many have been able to share their memories and love with her family.
