The universe finds a way to ruin everything. I've been really sick these last few days, sore throat, incredible fever, etc. I figured I picked up something from my trip to the aquarium. Upon deeper analysis of my symptoms, we've come to the conclusion that I have mumps. I feel like it's the fifties again. 
On top of that, I was torn from my fever

I remember having mumps when I was just a wee thing -- "ugh" is right. Haven't heard of anyone getting the mumps in about a bazillion years -- when our generation was tots, it was standard for kids to get the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunization.

If your boy is getting ill, get him to a doctor pronto! Like measles, mumps can really do a number on men. From Wikipedia: "Mumps viral infections in adult males carries a 25% risk that the testes may become infected leading to sterility."

Together we can form a macabre comedy/dance troupe by the name of Roofies and Mumps. It even has an appealing retro je ne sais quoi, much like our ailment, wouldn't you say?

How swollen are you? I really don't want to get mumps when I get home. Especially since I know I haven't been immunized.

That's good. I emptied some scary fluids from my nose today and my cold seems to be rectifying itself, so hopefully we'll all be doing better soon. I'll call you in a bit and check up on fridge stuffs.

We already bought food, but we replaced almost everything you had and then bought you some more stuff that we thought you'd like. There's also a bunch of extra shared food. $220 in groceries, actually. Damn.
