Dragon*Con 2008: Whose Line gets cut

Jul 04, 2008 16:41

Oh heck.

I just got an announcement via Facebook telling me that there will be no Whose Line Improv competition at Dragon*Con this year.

That has consistently been one of my favorite parts of the con, and it will be missed.

I don't think I heard of that beforehand. Of course I hear about it after it's gone. After two years I still only know maybe 5% of what goes on at Dragon*Con

There's a Brit Track community on Facebook. Got a mass mailing from the assistant director.

From the mailing:

"Thus, unfortunately for our Dragon Con 2008 year we will not have a "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Competition or a "Monty Python Experience Panel." As of right now we plan to have both panels back in 2009, however given circumstances and guests next year that may change."

Are you attending Dragon*Con this year?

My sister was going to staff the Monty Python one. Now she's been told its cancelled and she is responsible for finding her own ticket. When the price has come to $75. That assumes those staffers can get the cash together by the 15th. If not, they'll be jacked for an even higher rate.

I think that's pretty damn rude. At the very least, I think they should let them pay the lowest rate from last year.

I mean, they're volunteers. Presumably, they would want them to volunteer for stuff in the future. Even setting aside good manners, it only makes sense to take care of your staff.
