i spent the last 3 hours doing #2 of this problem set. it's the first time i've thought about one problem for 3 hours.. exciting. not really... the final draft (of that one problem) took 3 pages, which means i definitely did it the dumb way.. but whatever i got the right answer. i feel like writing "woopdi-fucking-do" at the end.

you should do that. regardless of how into physics these profs/TAs are, i think they appreciate a little humor like that, especially if you got the answer right. if you got it wrong, then you'd look resentful over your own stupidity. but you got it right, so it comes off as "i was clearly smart enough to do this, you didn't need to force it out of me."

Totally useful. Just yesterday I was walking on the sidewalk and I was about to trip and fall on my face but then I used Lagrangian Formalism to calculate exactly the angle I would need to step on the pavement with to avert tragedy.
