I've seen a couple of posts lately about the comics driving people out of fandom. I was talking to 
shadowkat67 today about how the comics had destroyed our ability to read/write fanfic with any pleasure, and this afternoon, I thought to myself, "Screw that. Joss can tell whatever story he wants to tell, and I can love it or hate it, but I am damned if the story he's telling is going to rob us of the stories we tell. Nertz to you, Joss Whedon!"
So I am proposing the first-ever, supercolossal,
"NERTZ TO YOU, JOSS WHEDON! FICATHON"
THE RULES:
Write a story that addresses something that drives you nuts about S8. It can be any length, any pairing, any characters, any rating. It can be a story about Angel that takes into account that he's got a son he cares for. It can be a story about Giles being a competent, kick-ass researcher. It can be a story about Buffy being an effective leader. It can be a story that just has good pacing and a plot that makes sense. It can be shippy, or it can be gen. It can be comedy or tragedy, adventure or character study, kinky or vanilla, canon-compliant or wildly AU. It can be anything, as long as it takes an aspect of S8 that you don't like, and does it better.
Signups are below. Stories are due January 31, 2011, but you can post earlier if you want. If enough people are interested, I'll put up a post for prompts. Be sure to post a link back to your story here, so I can compile a master list to post on the deadline!
