He's not offended. We used to get mistaken for lesbians all the time. The beard has helped prevent that, of course, but not always. And I honestly prefer, although not enough to be worth asking regularly, when he doesn't have it, further backing this assumption. He also knows that he's pretty damn low on machismo.
