Last night, I got drunk for the first time ever. And while it may have gotten repetitive and overly succinct, I maintain that "Teetotaller. 7 shots!" still serves as an adequate explanation for most lapses of memory and coordination.

I just finished "Eats, Shoots and Leaves." Good stuff. But she doesn't explain WHY there is no apostrophe in the possessive "its." Alas! It is an irksome and nonsensical convention. Do you know its origin?
