"So, you're taking next year off, so that's a good opportunity to get pregnant?"
~My mother-in-law, continuing her, my father-in-law, and my sister-in-law's quest to make being reasonably delaying about my babywanting as difficult as possible.

I fervently wish I had such a good reason to be intellectually crashing and burning.
But no, I still take the pills / avoid sex when the pharmacy's unexpectedly closed on me. My current level of crazy would not be fair to a baby.

Tell' em to bugger off.
A break from school will not be much of a break with a pregnancy and eventual newborn to deal with.
Take your own sweet time, dearie.
If they don't like it, tough sh*t.

It's your life (and uterus). Not theirs.

And wow - that goes for all of you alums reading this. Well, girls at least...

Stepping off the soapbox now...
Much love to all,
Puryear

I would discourage this course of action for anyone in a history Ph.D. program (who wants to finish)...

Use the time off to truly relax. You'll have many quality child-bearing years left after you've finished.

I know. It's just frustrating to get nagged/teased/whatever about something that I have to keep reminding myself to stick to the plan on because I'm all hormone-tempted already.

Thanks.
