Passover is here again, and it never fails to hit me in my gut. It is truly a holiday of the gut, with all the food restrictions and highlights, and all the visceral storytelling and the hard-hitting emotions and all that. Answer: Why, on all other nights, do we eat sitting upright but tonight we eat reclining? Why do we eat bitter herbs tonight? And why do we wash our hands twice? And why do we eat matzah instead of regular bread?

Why aren't we slaves anymore? Or are we? How are we free and how are we slaves? How can we be more free?
