I'm on this message board for military girlfriends, and I've seen this phrase so much lately that its just pissing me off...

"God won't give you anything you can't handle."

What???  There is plenty of crap in this world that people can't handle.  How is this phrase suppose to give comfort when it's so obviously false?  I guess some people's faith is

I really dislike that statement as well, because it implies that it's the person's fault if they can't handle something. Also it discourages people from getting help when they need it. Imagine them telling that to someone who just lost someone. I wouldn't be surprised if the grieving person gives them the stank eye and never speaks to them again.
