Well, I finally had enough of Warpbeast's bullshit and FDISKed the primary drive today. After reformatting I tried reinstalling the OS again (Win2K Pro), but after the initial loading screens for the install program it goes right to that screen of red pixels that it was giving me before (and that I was blaming on a corrupted install ( Read more... )

We have a couple of older video cards lying around the house, you can try swapping one of those in and see if that clears it up (at the very least that may help narrow down what the problem is)

Sounds like a video card. I had a 2000 install go south because of that as well.

It's possible to test the main memory in machine. I use a program called Memtest86 for that, and ti works quite nicely.
