wasn't outside lookin' up at that hour, and miles and miles away, but I've seen meteors/meteorites and expect I will again. Northern lights fill me with the same kind of awe.

This reminded me of my childhood. Every August the Perseid meteor shower comes, and there was one special summer where I got to see it from a distant area, where no city lights got in the way.
My father flew hang gliders, and we'd drive north to a couple of hills outside of Flagstaff, AZ to go with him. When we spent the night, the sky was alive with color and nets of gray light--a living, pulsing thing. Throw in meteors burning through the night and it became as if the night was crying. All those fiery tears...
*sigh*
Anyway, beautiful post. Betcha I can guess what YOU were doing out so late... *big grin*

Your writing always get into the nooks and crannies of my mind. I'm very glad to have the privilege of knowing someone who can write about such beauty.
