But of course, I don't want to pay for it! :D
So, I've applied to 2 different grants for this coming summer. They're both only for about 3 weeks though.
The first one is with Fulbright Japan, Japan-US Teacher Exchange Program for ESD. You can read more about it
HERE This one is completely free, and I wouldn't have to pay anything. Also, about 96 teachers will be admitted, but it's open to teachers across the USA.
However, I actually want to get into the second one.
The Japan Society, here in NYC, is offering a grant for only 8 teachers, but it's limited to the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). That one costs $1000 to participate, but luckily my school will cover 1/2 that bill, so I only have to come up with $500. This one "feels" better to me, if that makes sense. :D You can read more about it
HERE.
Still, if I can get into either program I'd be very happy, but I'm hoping that my taking Japanese lessons in the past at the Japan Society might help to give me an edge over the other applicants. The one thing that pushes it over the Fulbright one is the fact that I will be able to speak to a Hiroshima survivor if I'm picked for the Japan Society one. :O Funny thing is, the original deadline for the Japan Society one was last week, Jan 21, but they extended it. >.>;;; Not enough teachers? Dunno. o_o
So! Wish me luck! :D
Oh, and I /did/ finish the Mezamashi clip, but I'm QTing it to make sure it's OK. I'll be posting it up here on LJ probably around Friday. :D
