Not really

So a few days ago I finished reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I know a lot of people hate that book (and I can understand that), but I think it might be my favorite book in the entire fucking universe (though I haven't checked the recesses of my mind yet). When I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I thought "this is the best ( Read more... )

I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on the books. I am obsessed with them!

I haven't seen too much backlash, what are the criticisms?

oh god that was fast.

I've been looking up youtube videos of people's reviews and it's about half and half, love hate. But so many of the comments are negative. And in other places like amazon and various harry potter forums I've seen people say they were really disappointed. What I've seen most is that people didn't like that it was depressing. I think it would have been a cop out if the books had ended with the main characters being perfectly happy and unaffected by all they had experiences. But I actually found the ending very hopeful.

I definitely found it uplifting in it's own way. But to me, these were not happy books. Terrible things happened, Katniss both witness or did most of them. If she wasn't impacted, and badly, she's pretty much be a sociopath. I think it ended as well as it could have.
I can see people not liking who she "ended up with" and how, but that was not the point of the books

I have heard good things about them from other people too! This is quite the recommendation, maybe I will get on that. :)

I know this is late, but I was just scrolling through your page (I saw you added me, and didn't realize I hadn't added you back!) but yes, someone agrees with me about Mockingjay! Honestly, I thought it was the best book in the whole series, I loved it!

yeah I was expecting to hate it because I knew how many people didn't like it. So I was pleasantly surprised (and I wonder about some people who hate it). Probably helps that I got spoiled about a certain death so I didn't feel horrible when it happened.
