I'm going to do a rant calling out some dismissive bullshit that I saw yesterday on CoS forums. It might get little incoherent and there will be lots of F words. I've always been cool with Eliza, though there's been things I've disagreed with her on. This being one of them. Both sides of the arguing for/against Snape camps have people twisting around canon to the point of belittling real life situations. I made the mistake of taking some part of it in the past, and I've been trying to avoid reading of the Snape threads now. The Snape threads are a huge mess now anyway with all the arguing.

yeah I pretty much never post on there anymore. I'm just a lurker. And the modding is sometimes baffling.

I know you tend to focus on Snapedom, and I agree, but I feel that a lot of the things the fans from the 'other side' say are really toxic as well.

I think the 'other side' also tends to get off a bit easy because Snape fans tend to be the most organized (in my experience) so it's easier to point out their bs. But honestly, I see so much shit from all kinds of fans that I get pissed when people call out 'Snapefen' as if they're somehow more likely to be offensive than others.

Hey, I totally agree. On my previous journal I made a rage!post about her post.

Also, I love how she thinks her opinion has more weight than that of somebody who has been the director of a DV shelter.

I know it's public, and I don't really care. Heh.

Her hypocrisy is stunning. She went on to complain on some other website about how crazy Snapefen are. I am so tempted to call her out, but I'll restrain myself.

This is exactly why I didn't mind calling her out. She gets very mad about sexism from Snape fans (which she should), but then she goes and says some dismissive, victim-blaming shit like this. Which leads me to believe that she doesn't actually give a damn about sexism or any other form of prejudice, but finds it useful to demonize certain fans.
