This new marketing campaign (well, semi-new... Dove brought out the "big girls" a few years ago) of REAL beauty is very clever. Too disgustingly clever, really, considering that Dove and companies like Dove are the ones who created the beauty myth in the first place. They created it, and now they're cashing in on rejecting it. Pretty slick. And sickening. The self-esteem fund. *Hurls* Trixsy hobbitses.
Of course we all like to see a fast-forward of a makeover, with computer enhancements at the end. That stuff is fun to watch. :D
I've never noticed Dove to be one of the people behind the beauty myth. They always seemed to be just about selling bad soap.
And even so, I like to see that they've turned their back on it (even if it is to cash in) as it'll give a better impression for people who actually do see it.
even if they do make bad soap that makes me break out.
Yeah, I never liked Dove soap. It makes my skin all filmy and ucky. I'm partial to Irish Spring, which is convenient because it's cheap and I'm cheap. :D
