This dude Dan that I know from Uni who is exceptionally cool in many regards, plays the bass in a band, does english and philosophy (which of course makes him cool in my book), is just sweet and generally lovely, said this thing last year about going to Israel. This was in a philosophy class and he was saying it to the class and someone's like, "why?" and he's like, I just have to go because of my heritage/religion, and I don't feel like it's my time to die. And I'm sitting there thinking, that's fair enough, but that was a small part of my brain, and the majority of my nasty and un-understanding brain was like "well, that's pretty fucking dumb".
