(no subject)
Blargh. Life update, for those of you not in the know: still broke. Still car-less. My grandmother spent a couple weeks in the hospital with inexplicable (and unstoppable) diarrhea. Finally got a diagnosis (and a treatment! yay!) of: microscopic leukocytic colitis. Anyone heard of it? Didn't think so. Apparently, doctors don't know a whole ton about it either. Basically, the intestinal walls become inflamed on a microscopic level. This inflammation freaks out the white blood cells because they can't recognize the intestinal cells anymore, so they attack, and cause happy fun time. The doctors don't really know what causes the initial inflammation- it comes and goes, there's a thought that it's possibly autoimmune or related to Crohn's, and there's a good chance that it's genetic. Treatment consists of special steroids that only act in the gut, to slow down the crazy white blood cells, anti-diarrhea drugs, and a careful diet that avoids uncooked fruit and veggies, gluten, dairy, and meat-that-isn't-fish. Can only be diagnosed by looking at a colon biopsy under a microscope.
You know what that means?
Gramma wants me and Mom to get colonoscopies. Just in case. I think I'll just keep it in mind, and if I ever start having uncontrollable diarrhea, it'll be the first thing I have 'em check.
In other news: my roommate is moving out at the end of the month. This will put money in tight spot, but... it'll keep my stress down, I think. And I'll be able to bring my cat back. Ugh. I just wish I could get out of Waterview, but I already signed my soul away.
