In-Character Information
Name: Ana
Game/Series: Mother (Earthbound Zero)
Canon Point: Post-Game
Age & Grade Level: 18, Senior

Personality:
"One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes."
Ana is a girl. One not easily distinguished in a crowd of people. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and is of average height and weight.
At school she's a decent student... although she's never made Honor Roll.
These are facts of little importance, however, for what sets Ana apart from others is her heart.

A romantic, a shameless one at that, Ana believes that there is no greater thing on Earth then Love in all it's forms. Everyday she strives to put her best foot forward and treat everyone with a kindness that isn't often seen. To treat others as you would like to be treated was a concept her parents taught her from a young age and while she might not always be successful she certainty does try.

Because of this Ana comes across as a little too girly at times. And by a little, well...
She definitely embraces womanhood and all the pink, lace and frills it entails.

Ana's biggest talent isn't found in the form of destructive PSI or moving piano solos, but in her ability to befriend people from all walks of life. From thugs with a heart of gold, puppies stuck in wells and bird-men who live double-lives marketing pseudo-butter blends, Ana finds herself in the company of people one might not always assume someone as doe-eyed and cheery as she would relate with.

Few are as empathic as Ana is. Understanding someone's feelings and motives helps her in the never ending battle of the heart. It's an impossible task to love everyone and everything but for those she can't, even Giegue, there's always some sympathy to be had.

Out of all things in this world to despise, Ana hates goodbyes the most. Not just long goodbyes, but all of them. "See you tomorrow!" or "I'll talk to you later." are much more preferable as they always leave open the possibility that they'll meet again someday soon.
It's from this unwillingness to part that's given rise to so many of Ana's different collections over the years. Stuffed animals monopolize her bed, hair ribbons have their own jewelry box, and saving letters from her pen-pal gave birth in turn to a stamp collection that she keeps in various cookie and tea tins.... She collects those tins as well.
She's not serious about her collecting though so it ultimately amounts to little more then a bookcase full of 'organized' clutter.

There are other things she dislikes as well. Such as finding a spider sitting up in a corner of the bathroom just right when you get ready to take a shower...

It's safe to say that Ana isn't the bravest of girls. On her own she lacks the courage to get out there and do something, even things she knows is right. She's skipped classes to avoid confrontations and otherwise shies away from unfavorable situations.
It's when she's with her friends, just hanging out or fighting side-by-side for the greater good that her kindness and her conviction to what's right really shines though.
Without them she's just another girl.

Who can blow things up with her mind.

Backstory:
It's always a cold winter night in Snowman. From the day she was born up until two weeks ago when her mother vanished. Then just as suddenly as her mommy and dozens of other adults disappeared from the face of the earth a snowstorm ravaged the outskirts of town bringing with it a terrible flu and brought wild hungry animals out in full force. Ana prayed. For the first time in her life, her family was split apart.

It was after that when Ana started dreaming about a boy.

He was handsome, if not a little boyish, and every night he felt closer to her. With her Father so melancholic and herself lost in hopes and dreams of someone coming to help her and her Mother, Ana found herself staying home more and more until she simply stopped going to school all together.
When Ninten and Loid showed up at the Chateau she couldn't believe her eyes.

"You have appeared. Just like in my dream..."

It was fate (or was it?) and with a fond farewell and a promise to bring her mother back home, Ana left home for the first time in weeks to join the two boys on their adventure.
Traveling to Reindeer found the trio handling fake teeth and scouting out rumors for where to go next. Fighting monsters, walking for hours without a break, and being ambushed by a Starman Jr. after a rather pitiful night sleep what not the idyllic voyage Ana pictures on the lonely nights in the mountains.
Following that up with chasing ghosts in an abandoned mansion and she very nearly cried. How Ninten managed to hold a bat correctly after she nearly crushed his hand in fear is anyone's guess.

Learning the a melody from the piano, they left Spookane to travel east.

To a desert. It didn't help much, but at least Ana could use her hat to help fan herself off as the crossed the sandy dunes. In the midst of the Yucca Desert they met up with an old war veteran offering plane rides. After spending hours out in the heat it was run soaring high in the sky visiting places she'd never seen before. Ninten's house, Loid's school... Earning the ticket stubs for a joy-ride in the tank was fun bonus as well. It would have been a perfect day if not for the robot they ran into. With the tank's cannon it was easy enough to beat but the resulting explosion resulted in it being destroyed!
Exploring the ruins they engaged some monkeys. Lying... naughty monkeys who hit on young girls. The day wasn't getting better as it went on to be sure. At the end of the labyrinth was a pink spiral monolith.

Magicant was unlike anything Ana had ever seen before. Blue skies and cotton candy coloured fields overseen by a beautiful Queen in a castle made of rose-hued spires. There were Flying Men and kitten who swam in the ground and at it's heart was a dragon.
It figures that they'd need to battle it to obtain yet another fragment of Queen Mary's song.
Leaving that wonderful world behind, they continued on to Youngtown, an aptly named town where many of the adults were missing much like her own mother. More then learning Teleport from the Garricksons' baby or providing a much needed place to rest, Youghtown served as a reminder of just what they were doing this for. Even if that 'what' wasn't entirely clear.
Traveling further east through a swamp they met up with Loid's father and a strange girl from Ninten's hometown. While grateful for a place to rest, Ana wasn't quite sure what to think about her.

They spent the better half of their time in the following city of Ellay lost. (What is it with guys and their reluctance to ask for directions?) While many of the people they talked to were helpful, occasionally they crossed paths with members of a street gang called the Bla Bla's lead by a punk named Teddy.

"Like 'Teddy Bear'?"

It was hard to take them seriously after making that mental connection. Taking time to spend their hard-mugged-earned cash at the department store, they bought tickets to the local Live Show and a rather interesting treat called Strawberry Tofu.

In front of the Live Show building, they met up with the veteran from the Desert. Who would have guessed that he'd be upset with them for getting his tank demolished by a robot? It was worth the reprimand they got when inside they get to go on stage and sing and dance. Better then being on television, it was the most fun she'd had in a long time.
Until Teddy appeared and challenged them to a fight. While a lot more intimidating in person, Teddy still wasn't a match for their teamwork. He might have been a delinquent but Teddy's heart was in the right place.

It was hard leaving Loid behind, but Teddy didn't leave them much choice, and the newly formed party began the tedious climb up Mount Itoi.
The caves of Mt. Itoi were filled with some of the most dangerous and strangest creatures they'd ever seen. When they finally made it out, they were blessed to find the home of a healer who happily let them rest. When Teddy left to make some phonecalls leaving her alone with...

"Ninten? ...Do you love me?" When he nodded the words came tumbling out of Ana's mouth. "Oh Ninten, I've loved you for such a long time. I've loved you since I saw you in my dream."

Was it a romantic moment or an awkward one? There was no time to dwell for as soon as the words left her lips Teddy rushed in. It was then that a robot, an upgraded version of the one they had fought with the tank, showed up.
The battle was looking hopeless when Loid arrived and blasted it to smithereens. As shame his accuracy was off... He shot them as well! While she and Ninten were fine, Teddy was down down for the count.
With the original trio restored they traveled to the mountain's lake. Trying to cross the lake was easier said then done and half way there they were sucked in by a large whirlpool that deposited them in an underground laboratory.
It was abandoned save for the lone robot EVE, who rescued them when the glass walls of the lab gave way. With it (her?) by their side the trip up the mountain was far easier then Ana expected. That is, until R7038XX appeared. The two robots fought and destroyed each other. Strewn about the cliffside, EVE taught them another melody before falling silent for good.

Everything was much harder then. Scrambling up tree roots, fighting interplanetary monsters, it was enough to make anyone cry. The traveled until they came across the gravestone of Ninten's Great-Grandfather George. Everything happened in a blur after that. Learning the final Melody, returning to Magicant and singing the Lullaby to Queen Mary, knowing the truth behind who she was and what was happening, knowing what waited for them now at Mt.Itoi's peek....

Magicant vanished after that leaving them with no choice but to continue though the final cave. Inside one cavern they found the missing towns people trapped in capsules and at the end of it was Giegue's spaceship.

Giegue was more powerful then anyone could have guessed. Attacking him both physically and with PSI did nothing. With few options remaining and the alien offering only Ninten refuge, they did the only thing they could do.

They sang.

They sang and sang and sang. Giegue pleaded, he begged for them to stop. The final battle was won not by breaking his ship or his body but his heart.

Giegue retreated after that and her mother and the other adults were let free.

Going home and saying farewell to her new friends was somehow more difficult then anything else. Even though they kept in touch with letters and got together every so often it wasn't until Ana learned of the unique school known as "Smash Academy" that the opportunity arose to be with her friends once more.

Anything Else?:
♪ Ana's favorite book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Yes, the quote at the start of the personality section is from the book. The Fox was her favorite character.

♫ Mentioned, but not gone into much detail in the personality section, Ana has been playing the Piano since she was 5 and often uses music as a way to express herself.
After a frustrating schoolday, it's not unusual for her to go down to the bandroom and play some Tchaikovsky to try and get her anger out.

♪ She'd been on TV! Not for being a pianist though, she's been featured because of her psychic talents and is locally known as 'The Wondergirl of Snowman'.
If High School doesn't pan out she has a promising career as 'The Amazing Healing Priestess' of Channel 5 WABI.

♫ Once a year, usually around Christmas, Ana goes through her various collections and donates the items of least sentimental value. It takes a while and she often changes her mind several times before she decides what to give up but it helps keep her room from being un-bear-ably cluttered.

♪ Ana's Final Smash is PSI Beam Ω. It's translated from one walkthough description as 'So powerful it's uncertain what will happen. Will it give rise to a nuclear explosion?'
In fact all of Ana's PSI are awkwardly powerful considering she's such a darling.

In-Character 1st person writing sample (journal):
"Smash Academy"... It's a wonderful name for a school.
It's certainly larger then anything back home in!

Oh, forgive me, I'm getting a little ahead of myself. My name is Ana and I'm a transfer student from Snowman.
Where I'm from the school is so small that it doesn't even have a computer lab, let alone providing it's students with laptops, but that's part of what adds to the excitement of coming here. That and being able to meet so many wonderful people for the first time.

Or for the second time in some cases.

Either way I'm very happy to make everyone's acquaintance!

In-Character 3rd person writing post:
Ana closed her eyes. Sitting cross-legged on her bed she shuffled a deck of white-faced playing cards. Playing 'Guess the Card' wasn't the most exciting game but on a snowy afternoon of being inside all day it was way more fun then doing homework.

With her eyes still shut she drew the top card from the deck and held it out in front of her. As she focused an image began to form in her mind...

"Circle."

Too easy. She drew another card. And another. Quietly calling out the shape she saw as she picked them up until a voice broke though her concentration.

"Ana! Dinner!!"

"Coming Mommy!" Ana shivered as her bare feet came in contact with the cool hardwood floor. Had she guessed right? Wrong? Only the glossy eyes of the plushies on her bed knew the answer as Ana went downstairs without a second glance.
