Kanaya? Are you there? Please pick up if you are. [There is more than a little worry in Lloyd's voice. His heart is pounding with dread as he waits for an answer. Someone had told him she was dead. That can't be true. It just can't.]
It's not like it was completely hopeless! We were trying to fix things, but... well, I think it's easier to face your death if you try to be unafraid of it. And to have hope, even when it looks hopeless.
[Jack Noir... He frowns, committing that name to memory.]
Well, yeah, you should definitely always have hope, but I don't think anyone should just accept that they're going to die. If you accept something, that's as bad as saying it's okay if it happens. Do you really think it's okay if you die?!
[No, he doesn't, but even if he did, it probably wouldn't change his response. This is hitting on a subject he feels strongly about, and his idealism is kicking in hard.]
Nothing's inevitable. There's always another way. Look, one of my friends told me in the future I'm going to kill his parents. That I kill a lot of people.
[He clenches his hands into fists briefly, then vehemently slashes one hand through the air. A look of fierce determination flashes across his face.]
I won't let that happen, Kanaya. I won't be the Lloyd he remembers! Now that I know, I'm going to do everything I can to change it, and that's exactly what you should do, too. You're not the same Kanaya, either. You can change this if you try!
[Well, she was going to go hatch the Matriorb and bring about the rebirth of her race when she got sidetracked into Somarium, so she was definitely trying to change things! Just not quite with Lloyd's amount of enthusiasm.]
You're right, of course. Knowing what I do now, I can try and change things. And the first thing I need to do is go talk to Eridan and get this all sorted out.
[She's sounding more positive. She sounds like she has a plan. Most importantly, though, she sounds to Lloyd like she's no longer thinking about giving up or accepting an inevitable death. Lloyd releases a breath, some of his tension bleeding out with it.]
You're welcome, Kanaya. [He offers a smile.] Anytime. Let me know if there's any way I can help.

[Lloyd's response is instant and definitely not so flippant.]
What do you mean, you were waiting to die?! Who was trying to kill you?

[Oh no, she's upset him now.]

Wouldn't you agree?

[Just going to trail off here. You don't know what it was like, Lloyd, just staying there and waiting.]

[Although, right now, just knowing she's alive is enough.]
Good luck, Kanaya! Bye!
