spoilers for PoA shall now follow...
Okay, so, as I am a complete loser, I went to PoA with my mother, and while she sat there in line for like 10 minutes waiting to get herself some food, I went into the theater to find a seat. One of my friends, Luke, called my name, and so I went and sat near him and his friends. When my mother came in and insisted on sitting next to me, I felt like an even bigger loser.
Anywho, so on to the movie. This movie is the most important of all of the Harry Potter movies to me, because the third book is my favorite one, so it was extremely important to me that they did it well. They did a fairly good job with the movie, but it was quite upsetting how much they left out.
They left out Harry calling himself Neville on the Knight's Bus, and seriously, what was up with the dude at the Leaky Cauldron? They really messed Tom up, he was supposed to be a caring individual who allowed Harry to stay and watched out for him! They messed around with the order of just about everything...they had Hermione punch Malfoy after she walked out of Trelawny's class, and that all happened far earlier in the book. Sirius...my God...his animigus form was so scrawny!! So was Lupin's werewolf form. I was really ticked off about that.
Some of the scenery in there didn't make sense...for example, when Harry is running after Sirius, he runs into a forest...this forest was not there when Sirius fell...and he fell down nowhere near the lake where Harry finds him. That really bothered me.
The thing that bothered me the most is that Harry never asked Lupin about how he knew about the map, and then be told about how they all had nicknames in school. GRR. The thing that bothered me the second most was the quidditch. They totally messed up everything having to do with quidditch. They messed up when Harry gets the Firebolt, they gave it to him at the end of the movie instead of having the whold ordeal there. Gryffindor was supposed to win the Quidditch cup, which they never showed, and they never showed Cedric Diggory saying that he thought they should have a rematch...and Cedric is a vitally important character in the 4th book! *sigh*
They still have the screw up of not having Peeves in there, so they couldn't have him tell what happened to the Fat Lady. Sirius was supposed to have gone after Pettigrew when he was in Ron's bed, and that never happened. That bothered me a lot.
I didn't like the Hippogryff scene, because they only had one of them, not a whole class set like they had in the book.
Okay, now onto the less depressing part: The things I liked!
I really liked the little blue bird that flew into the womping willow a couple of times...that really made me laugh. I also liked the way that the willow shook off all the snow, and all the leaves in the fall....so great.
I loved all the interaction between Lupin and Harry, their bonding and all, it was so great...so almost slashy, and showed that Rowling probably will have Harry live with Lupin, or something to that effect in the future.
I liked the Marauder's Map. It looked pretty good. It didn't show the part where Harry figures out how to get into the statue of the one-eyed-witch, which was pretty upsetting...but they did fairly well with it other than that.
I also liked some of the sound track, it was pretty darn good.
Anywho. So it was really great. The movie was only a little bit over 2 hours, and yet I just spent an hour typing up my review of it. I must be a complete loser...or just completely obsessed...yeah, that's probably it...
