[Birthday drabble] Yabu x Chinen

Kouta twirls and pulls a silly face. He trips over his own shoes and pretends he’s hurt. He cries, wails loudly and pulls at the sleeve of a child that laughs at its loudest. The child backs off and there is a satisfied grin on the clowns face. ‘Got’cha, brat.’
After his act he retreats, leaving the audience yelling for more. The pain of others is always satisfying to them. Kouta knows.
Kicking off the too big shoes he uses his dirty sleeve to rub the white make-up off his face and hides in the coulisse where he has a view on the rope’s that hangs high in the tent. It’s time for their main act.
High on a ladder stands Yuri, the smallest acrobat in their team. He is only 17 years old but his grace and skills make him look so much older when he’s up there.
In awe Kouta watches how the boy flies through the tent and he goes along with the ooh’s and aah’s coming from the audience. He winces when Yuri almost falls and bites his tongue so hard during the final performance he can taste his own sweet blood spreading in his mouth.
When the act is done, Kouta rushes towards the ladder with a towel and a proud smile. Up there, Yuri is called the Sky’s Child.
Down here, he’s all Kouta’s again.
