I cannot deny that my immediate, kneejerk reaction was that the shooter was tea party affiliated. And when early reports came out (erroneously) that he was, I said I wasn't surprised. But when things shifted away from that I was also willing to say I fucked up and revised my opinion.

I think that a lot of people refusing to back down are afraid to admit they might be wrong, and others are blinded by their hatred toward the party. because yes, he has apparently said some things that point toward radical right wing ideologies (haven't read them myself), but nothing that ties him definitively to the tea party.

The news (my dad is a news junkie) was saying his favorite books are Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto. :/
